Accessories are a great addition to any outfit. Shoes, belts, jewelry, hair accessories are all great ways to spice up your outfits. Your outfits are noticed, but I always feel so great when I get compliments on my shoes, rings, or necklaces. It makes me think, “I am so glad I decided to put these on.”
Most of us love to shoe shop; I think it is programmed in most women in the womb. Shoes can be short, tall, plain, colorful, have bows, buckles, zippers. They are so fun, and luckily, you can find shoes for decent prices. I will buy shoes just about anywhere: I am guilty at drooling a little every time I pass the shoe section. I am not picky on brands, but my favorite affordable places to look are DSW and Target. This season, the all over platform heel is in style, clogs, and kitten heels. Keep in mind that these are a bold shoe trend this season, so I don’t recommend spending a lot of money on them because I don’t believe they will last long.

Belts have always been known for keeping your pants up, but with fashion they are one of the best way to show off your curves. Do you have a dress that is a little baggy in the mid section? Just throw on a belt and show off your waist line. I am sure you have noticed that the thick belts have been in style, and still are; however, the trend of the season are the skinny belts. I personally love the ones that have a cute amount of detail such as bows, fun buckles, or zippers that make the belt really stand out.

Jewelry… The accessory that makes our eyes light up and our lips smile.
In all honesty, it doesn’t matter if it is real or fake, if it sparkles, it is FUN! I really do like to wear costume jewelry (mostly because it is affordable). Although costume rings sometimes turn my finger green, as long as I am wearing something that shines and somewhat unique, I love it! (tip: If you put clear fingernail polish on the inside of the ring and let it dry, it won’t turn your finger green for a few wears) Here are some of the jewelry trends for spring 2011:
- Antique, Vintage, Retro & New Combinations
- Dramatic, unique, unusual necklaces (simple… yet exotic)
- Ornamented Bracelets
- Eclectic Natural Look
- Crystal, Rhinestone & Venetian Art Glass
- Black, Grey and Neutrals
- Faux & Real Pearls
- Over-The-Top Rings (not gaudy, but daring)

Hair accessories are no longer for just little girls with ponytails. They have been a growing style for a several seasons now. There are headbands, clips, bows, flowers etc… This is a great accessory, but make sure it goes with your hair and your outfit. I personally like to wear them to get my bangs out of my face and to show off a little “bling” every once in a while.

Accessories can make you look fabulous and chic; however, you definitely want to keep in mind that each outfit you put together needs to have just 1 or 2 focal points. You don’t want to look like you just threw on a bunch of each accessory, every piece needs to be thought out and all flow together. For example, if you want to wear a vibrant colored dress and large necklace, the rest of the accessories should be somewhat plain and minimal.
